Don't be deceived by the cover The "message" I got from the book's title, cover, and general marketing presentation led me to assume that the book was almost certainly yet another handbook touting hairbrained schemes to deceive unsuspecting female victims. The impression I got from the cover was that the book probably contained [weak]ideas such as hanging out in a nightclub, filling out a fictitious loan application while sitting at the bar, claiming three times your real income in hopes that nosy hotties will look over your shoulder and be impressed with your finances. Or "tricking" girls into thinking they are going to a party when in reality she's the only guest and you hope to put the hard sell to her when she arrives and is "trapped". In other words, I was expecting LOW CLASS tactics intended for use by LOW CLASS men. The book, of course, contains the exact opposite: Strategies for using respect and compassion to advance your success with women. This book has done an excellent job of tying together a bunch of what used to be disjoint concepts for me, unifying them into a concise strategy for my social life. I figured the least I could do to return the favor was to offer my feedback in hopes it would be of value to others. |

Budget Schlock This book has the all the great photography and typography ("My first day with Microsoft Word") that you would expect from a pamphlet in a grocery store line. You will be subjected to subheads jammed in between dense paragraphs, and cheesy, posed, darkly-reproduced photographs of his chunky girlfriend. R. Don Steele self-published this, which gives you some insight into his credibility and production values. Despite the flaws, if the text were accurate and enlightening, the book would be worth its weight in gold. Unfortunately, it has all the content of your basic Esquire article, plus a bunch of padding and rambling in Unabomber style. The man has the flabbiest prose I have read in any self help book. He routinely fails to construct complete sentences, and drives all over the map in search of a cohesive paragraph. He cannot write a simple list without backtracking and repeating himself. As he demonstrates his ignorance, he also frequently self-aggrandizes. He assumes the posture of "The Man," and requires blind faith from his followers. If you like that brand of leadership, you can find him in other low-budget venues: Internet radio and discussion boards. First, though, ask how supplicating yourself to a questionable guru is going to raise your self-confidence. Why do you think Mr. Steele engages in all this shameless promotion of himself? It is because no one else will. Save your money and buy Louis & Copeland's "How to Succeed with Women" or "Make Every Girl Want You" by John Fate and Steve Reil. |

Helpful Hints for Successful Dating Boundaries in dating is a very good book. It provides many examples of problems in relationships and how they are worked out. This book gives good evidence to support dating, but it also gives good reasons when dating should be put off. It helps people in relationships to get through conflicts, and it helps others avoid conflicts in future relationships. This book is a great guide for those who are looking to start better relationships with new people, and those who are looking to give their old relationship a new start. I really enjoyed this book and I thought it was very helpful. I learned a lot about dating, and how certain problems in a relationship might be my fault instead of my partners. I recommend this book to every male and female, single or not. It will answer many questions about conflicts and boundaries in dating today. |

A nice general book I like this book and recommend it as a starting place. My boyfreind and I are both strong adult christians with a view towards marriag and family. We attend church and consider God a foundation to us. However we were both a little shy about starting out to pray together, or read the bible together and so on. This book is a nice start. It is not overly heavy; each reading is short. It is not deep into theology nor does it preach. It is a nice easy starting point for us. Also I come from a more full-faith background while he is more consertive; this book has walked a nice middle ground. |

Good Guidelines for Serious Dating "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" is a very good book. It is seen from a male perspective, because the author is a male, but it is good for women to read as well. I do not agree with completely kissing dating goodbye, but I did like what the book had to say. It had many good points about how to look for a future spouse wisely. It offered many good standards to set for your future spouse to meet. I really enjoyed it and I know that anyone who read it would also enjoy this book. This book is good for people who are in a relationship and for those who are looking for one. It encourages single people to wait for God's timing and not spend your life worrying about meeting someone new. God knows the right time to bring someone in your life. For people who are already in a relationship, it gives them safe boundaries and guidelines to follow so that their relationship will not go to far before marriage. These helpful hints can help couples stay pure and devoted to only each other. I encourage everyone to go out and buy this book today! |

Great and practical advice for women I recently started dating again after more than 10 years. I bought several books on dating after a guy I had been dating for two months "cut and run" when I suggested we get together on new year's eve. Now I have a more realistic view of the dating rituals (and "games") and how men need to be the pursuer. Honey, if he isn't pursuing you, he's not the right one. Good practical advice along with do's and don'ts for women by understanding how men approach dating. Along with Venus and Mars on a Date, I highly recommend this book. I read it two times and am sure I will read it over and over again. Myreah is right on and you will find it easy reading. |

Not Just For Dad's I bought this book for my husband who could use some lightening up when it comes to our teenage daughters. Glancing through it I found myself laughing my head off. I kept setting it down and picking it up, until I finally gave in and read the entire book. Incredibly a funny true to life! I learned more from this book than I do from many parenting materials. If not for Bruce Cameron I would still be wondering why my daughter connects with her dad like a weed whacker connects with a steal pole. To raise a teen you have to have a sense of humor and here is one dad who is an expert in both humor and being an observant father. Very Funny and fun to read for EVERYONE with a daughter over 10 years of age. An absolute must for EVERY Dad!!! |

Keep your pencil handy; you'll want to take notes Heard the taped version of MARS AND VENUS ON A DATE by John Gray . . . extremely informative (at least to me) tour of the five stages of dating: attraction, uncertainty, exclusivity, intimacy, and engagement. Gray presents ideas on how to find your soul mate, as well I know I liked the material, in that I had to get a copy of * When you [a man] make a mistake, use a negative I'm sorry that I was late. . . . Have I read this book before? This book is too much like other books by Ms. Steel and other writers. It didn't have much excitement or unexpected turn of events. I was glad to see that her books do still touch my emotions (the totally unexpected break up of a 24 year marriage is traumatic and brought tears to my eyes) but the urge to keep reading and reading until I finished the book just didn't happen this time like it always happened with her very early books. But, since I have been a DS fan for many, many years - I am not ready to give up on her works! |

AWESOME! Great visual identification guide....a MUST have! This book is the one we've all been waiting for. It has literally the most definitive collection of clear, full color fabric swatch pictures of fabrics dating from 1800 to 1960 that has EVER been compiled and published in one easy to use spiral, hardbound book. Her explanations are cursory, but the pictures make this book my most often referred to book when dating old fabric and/or vintage quilts with their multitudes of different fabrics. One neat thing about this book is that it lays open flat so you don't have to juggle with it to keep your place in the book while examining and comparing with your actual quilt or fabric. It has a great, and I mean GREAT, resource list with web site addresses including quilt societies, appraisers and museums, a full glossary of what all those "trade insider" words mean, and a very comprehensive bibliography. I can't imagine how I got by without this book. It is the visual bible of quilt/fabric dating and identification. It deserves more than 5 starts, it is a gorgeous, useful, well documented and very organized fabric dating reference manual! |

Should be titled 101 Answers Finally! This is a wonderful book explaining and defending the proper way of looking at human sexuality and what the Catholic church teaches about sex and why. I only wish this book had been printed and circulated 30-40 years ago! Maybe we wouldn't be have so many failed marriages, fatherless families, and mixed up notions about what God intended when he created us as sexual beings. Sex isn't bad or dirty, it's sacred and holy in the context of a marriage between a husband and wife. This should be required reading for all teenagers! Thanks, Jason! |

Great humor, but not actually super useful. I'm hoping the "Worst Case" series doesn't degenerate much further. The original actually *was* pretty useful, but this, the third or so in the series, is just humor, with little that's actually useful on a date. What are my dating worst-case scenarios? Getting spaghetti sauce on one's shirt, getting too drunk, inadvertently bringing up something controversial, discovering some Awful Truth about your date that makes you want to get up and run away, etc. Some of these are addressed ("How to leave a date in a hurry", "How to tell if your date is really married"), but too few to make sense. The rest are just silly (like "how to tell if your date is really a woman"). Frankly, I view this book as an enjoyable foray into bizarre problems, but not actually something useful. For all that, it IS terribly funny. The style is different from the earlier two books, but it's still hilarious imagining someone in these situations (like a guy running around a girl's apartment hoping to figure out her name from her mail before she wakes up.. advice which totally disregards that a lot of women don't go by their "official" first names!). |

Dating for dummies This book contains some useful advises, however, although the author claims that the book can be useful for both sexes and all ages, it's not quite true. I tried to apply what is written in this book (although it contradicted to what I knew) and spoiled a relationship that started perfectly well. Guys, be careful. This book will tell you that you have to call you date the next day after you got her phone number, and other things like that making you excessively and annoyingly nice. You'll be better off getting a book written by a guy for guys or even better talk to somebody more experienced in dating that you. |

The best, most practical dating book around Forget all those books that tell you that men and women are from different planets...this is a book for couples on planet Earth who want to have a long-lasting, meaningful relationship. I was completely engrossed by it from the very first page and learned so much from it. This book gives clear, common-sense reasons why so many relationships don't work, and simple, straightforward guidelines for improving your relationships and finding the right one. It also focuses on what to do when you are single (Thou Shalt Get a Life) to make yourself more attractive to others. Some of the guidelines in this book seem a little radical and "politically incorrect", but when you think about them they really make sense. The book is very straightforward and to-the-point with a healthy dose of humor mixed in. Don't "kiss dating goodbye"! Read this book and go about dating the right way! Whether you are a Christian or not I would highly recommend this book to anybody; it should be required reading for anyone who wishes to get married someday. I'm certain that anyone who follows its guidelines closely will experience satisfying results. |

Disturbing, but funny In this fascinating work, columnist W. Bruce Cameron describes the simultaneous descent of his life into chaos and his daughter's trek through the teenage years. He covers the changes in his daughter's relationships to her family and friends, her seeming loss of sanity, and her physical changes and disturbing interest in boys. The story is covered in hilarious detail, as many aspects of life in general (and life with a teenage girl in particular) are covered, and lampooned. I must admit that I found this book somewhat disturbing. My eleven-year-old daughter and I have been reading some American Girls books together, and the thought that this loving flower will soon turn into a teenager has my blood running cold! But seriously, this book is a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek look at the experiences of a father of a teenage girl: what he experiences, what he feels, and how he (unsuccessfully) tries to deal with it all. It is a must-read for any father of a present or future teenager. I highly enjoyed this laugh-out-loud book, and highly recommend it to you. |
