In essence, RM is a collection of what should really be three magazine articles. Further, some examples/stories are stretched out so long that it seems that the author is just trying to fill up space.

For example, the longest section of the book is supposedly about the Porn industry. RM spends so much time on the story of a particular Porn businessperson that the book seems more like a bio of his life than a study of the underground Porn economy.

RM claims to be about the huge underground/black market economy, but, the three sections (pot, migrant workers & Porn) seem largely unconnected. The book has no cohesive thesis or point.

I would and have never thought an ex Playboy Playmate to be the type to relate to an every-day, real, normal person that most women would consider a "girfriend".

Her chapter on "Getting Your Body Back" gave the same unrealistic dietary advice found in "What to Expect when You're Expecting". When you're dehydrated, hormonal and exhausted, the last thing most women will go for is a tuna mixed with yogurt (god forbid mayo), or a piece of chicken. Who is she kidding? That's not "girlfiend" advice. She was 112 when she got pregnant and went up to 150 lbs. Most women WISH they started at 150 lbs when they got pregnant.

The worst part of this book is that halfway through it I was depressed because she made the whole postpartum experience sound so miserable.
I guess, we'll never sleep again, never retain HER pre-prego body, our husbands our useless items, we'll be unhappy and depressed for months, and our lives will never be the "same".

Perhaps best of all, Thomas' down-to-earth style makes the forbidden easy to understand.

The book is a delightful read and would make an excellent addition to any library encompassing "alternative" sexuality.

1) Sheer quantities of positions alone can never lead one to "incredible" sex, or even to good sex. Quality of sexual relations is a factor of many things, including "Chemistry" and Communications between the lovers, Trust, Skills, Open-ness to Intimacy, Setting and "Scenario," and numerous other less easily defined factors. A wonderful alternative to this work which features excellent writing and instruction on all of the above areas would be "9 Free Secrets of New Sensual Power," which uses a fun instructional-story approach to imparting sexual wisdom which this reviewer has not seen before in the sex-advice genre, but which worked so well in "The Celestine Prophesy."

2) The book itself does not communicate its message or methods effectively. The tone does not engage or inspire on par with the best of this genre, for example, the way the "New Free Sex" DVD conveys its message in a conversational one-to-one style that is readily grasped by all. Rather, Mr. Emerson's book comes off "cold," like a piece of art on a gallery or museum wall ? whereas one would want and expect heat from a book designed to develop passion.

When I first suspected sex addiction was my fiance's problem, I didn't know where to turn to for information, resources, help, etc. I accidentally happened upon a website of Dr. Patrick Carnes's where a list of his books on sex addiction was given. Before I read the book, I had so many questions, fears, indescribable pain and agony that this wasn't, couldn't be happening to us. And even though some of my questions still go unanswered, I became confronted with an addiction that is not only destructive to the addict but to the addict's loved ones as well. A disease that is so secretive and demoralizing that unless the addict seeks help, can be life threatening.
